1. Hamilton Beach 25361 Indoor
A well-liked product, Hamilton Beach 25361 is a good choice for everyone who is looking for a smoke-free option. The grill has a temperature control that goes up to 450 degrees (sear) and has a see-through lid. The lid is non-contact and gives enough space to grill bigger pieces of meat or any other food item. It takes about 10 min. to pre-heat and about 7 mins to get a sear on each side.
You can cook all kinds of meat and veggies in the grill. The heating element is built in the grill and thus avoids cold spots and uneven cooking. The feature we loved most is how easy it was too clean. The drip tray is big enough to catch all grease and liquids.
2. Cuisinart GR 150 Griddler
This indoor grill and griddle come with multiple cooking options. It has a contact lid and can be used as half-grill and half-griddle at the same time. It can also be used on one-side or both sides. The grill can go from warm to 450 degrees Fahrenheit and has indicators to let you know when the desired temperature is reached.
The grill comes with a brushed stainless steel enclosure with adjustable lid height. This ensures that you can easily grill without squishing. It also has a large cooking surface of 240 sq inches. One drawback is the quality of the cord, the drip pan and the push button on the side to pop-out the grill.
3. Power Smokeless Grill -Interchangeable Technology
The Power smokeless grill has interchangeable grill and griddle plates as the name suggests. It has a grilling area of a 13.5″ X 8″ inches. The large grill can easily house 3 rib racks or about 8 burgers at a time. Temperature controls have an LED display and a maximum temperature of 450 degrees. Its built-in smoke extractor fan claims to keep the operation smoke-free. The plates have a ceramic, non-stick coating that makes it easy to cook and also reduces the oil needed to cook.
Some common issues reported about the product include – taking too long to get to the desired temperature, constant monitoring required to regulate the temperature and the smoke extractor fan not being effective.
4. Elite Platinum EGL-6501 Elite Platinum
This grill is a crowd favorite and comes with a glass lid. The cooking area or the grill surface is 14″x18″ inches. The drip pan is easily removable and dishwasher safe. It has a maximum temperature of 450 degrees. We too were impressed with how quickly the grill heats up. This takes the guesswork out of grilling and also frees you from constantly monitoring the temperature.
The biggest drawback is the uneven heating. The edges will not get heated like the middle and giving inconsistent results. You might find cooking bigger pieces a little tough as the grill surface is pretty shallow and there isn’t enough space between the grill plate and the lid.
5. Philips Smoke-less Indoor BBQ Grill, Avance Collection
A great cooking aid for your kitchen this smoke-less grill from Philips comes with infrared technology. This makes the grill practically smoke free and ensures that the grill plate is heated evenly. It also has a big drip tray which is easy to clean and keeps your cooking mess-free. The grill can heat up to 460 degrees. You can start using it right after unboxing as it does not require any set-up or assembly.
The performance, the quick heating and the infra-red technology is what we loved about the product. What we didn’t like was the plastic power button and the fact that it doesn’t seem to be durable.
6. Secura GR-1503XL Electric Reversible 2 in 1 Griddle
The 2 in 1 grill from Secura has a 178 sq. inch cooking plate. The cooking plate is reversible and can be used as a grill and griddle. It comes with a detachable glass lid. If you are cooking with the lid closed the vents on the sides will ensure that the moisture is not trapped and the food does not come out soggy. Its thermostat is also detachable with the highest temperature of 450 degrees.
We found the cord too short for the size of the grill. Some grease and oils tends to leak through the sides and make for a messy kitchen counter.
7. Hamilton Beach 25331 Super Sear 100-Square-Inch Non-stick Indoor Searing Grill
Hamilton Beach 25331 grill can go up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit and heats up very quickly. The cooking plate at 100 sq. inch is not that big, you can probably cook about 4 burgers at a time. The grill heats up evenly and gives a decent sear. The booklet that comes with the product has a limited list of cooking temperatures listed, though just a few cooking sessions are enough to figure out the best temperatures to cook at.
One drawback with this product is that the cooking plates are non-detachable. Which makes it tough to clean. The grill also tends to splatter grease.
8. Zojirushi eb-dlc10 Indoor Electric Grill
The Zojirushi is one of the more expensive models we reviewed. It has an easy assembly and the highest temperature of 400 degrees. The grill has a cooking area of 14-7/8″ x 10-5/8″ inches. The grill’s heating element is embedded in the plate. The grill does not have a lid or a griddle and is hence not suitable to cook paninis, etc.
The grill creates a huge splatter. It is no fun cleaning the grease and oil splatter after cooking. We also got cold spots and uneven heating on the grill.
9. Tenergy Redigrill Smoke-Less Infrared Grill, Indoor Grill
Tenergy RediGrill is an indoor smokeless grill with infra-red heating technology. These infra-red rays only heat the grill tray and do so uniformly thus ensuring there are no cold spots. The grill can go up to 460 degrees Fahrenheit in 6 minutes and will maintain the temperature. Thus ensuring consistent cooking without any intervention. The grill does not have a lid.
One major drawback is that at its maximum heat or temperature you cannot manage to look at the food being cooked. The infra-red rays get too bright and the manufacturer also suggests to not look at them directly. Another issue we came across was that the grill is not good for searing.
10. Presto 09020 Cool Touch Electric Indoor Grill
This is a great product from Presto. The grill tray is not too large but good enough for 2-3 people at a time. It doesn’t come with a lid but the grill tray is surrounded by a lip which avoids splatters. But you still run the risk of creating a splatter if you are using too much oil. It has 6 different temperature settings going up to 400 degrees.
At 1300 watts it did not get as hot as we would have liked. The grill though is easy to clean with a removable drip tray. It comes with a removable heat controller. So you can put the entire unit in the dishwasher with the heat control removed.
11. Tayama TG-868 Electric Grill
This grill from Tayama has a large cooking area of about 150 sq. in. The grill is priced lower than other products in the market. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the highest temperature. It does not have a lid leading to splatter. You will also need to put water on the dripping tray to minimize smoke.
The product is lighter than the Presto grill. The biggest issue we experienced was the lack of high temperatures. Other customers also complain about the Teflon coating coming off after a couple of washes.
12. Chefman Electric Smokeless Indoor Grill
Chefman indoor grill has a spacious grilling tray of about 140 sq. in. It has a temperature control going to a high of 450 degrees. The grill does not have a lid and a wider lip around the grilling tray is badly missed. A splatter is unavoidable. The grill has 3 different temperature zones, low, high and medium.
The biggest drawback is the fact that filling the drip tray with water is mandatory. With the manufacturer suggesting you fill it up before placing it below the grill. It seems easier to fill it up when it is already placed on the grill with a pitcher or bottle.
13. Gotham Steel Smokeless Electric – Pitchfork
Gotham Steel grill has a Tri-Cerema coating their proprietary titanium-ceramic material for the cooking surfaces. The heating element is embedded in the cooking tray. It comes with a griddle and a pitchfork too. The cooking area varies with the model from about 96 sq. inch for the basic one to about 126 sq. inch for the deluxe and large models.
While the non-stick coating works well and the smoke produced is lower, the grill does not get hot enough. And once you have placed the meat on the grill the temperature goes down. Making it longer to cook and gives uneven heating too.
14. Techwood Smokeless Grill Electric Barbeque
Techwood grill comes with one of the largest cooking areas. The grill has about 240 sq. in. cooking area. It also has a precise temperature control with the highest temperature of over 500 degrees. The cooking tray can be used as a grill or a griddle. It also comes with 8 paddles with cool to touch handles for raclette cheese or keeping food warm.
It gave a a good sear and we did get even, uniform cooking on the meat. Though we would have loved one with a lid, this is a powerful performer. Preheat the grill for 6-7 minutes on the highest temperature and then set the desired temperature with the controls.
15. Simple Living Advanced Indoor Smokeless BBQ Grill
Simple Living indoor grill is a well-liked product. It is owing to the uniform heating it provides. It reaches the highest temperature of about 446 degrees and then you can maintain the desired temperature. The grill comes with infra-red technology and thus produces very little or no smoke. Infra-red technology also means that there are no hot/cold spots. Another advantage is the cooking area, you can easily cook 8 hamburgers in one go.
The grill does not come with a lid. While the cooking was not very quick, the results were good. Some customers do complain about durability issues.
16. Hot Shot Indoor Electric Smokeless Grill
This one comes with a grill and has both a grill and a griddle. It also has a separate grease and a water tray. The water tray helps minimise smoke. The grill has a maximum temperature of about 450 degrees. Though it did not take long to reach the highest temperature, it just has a low to high setting. Which is a drawback if you are looking for a precise temperature controls.
The lid is hinged and avoids splatter. The biggest issue we had was the size of the cooking tray. At the price this grill comes a bigger cooking area would be nice.
17. Kitchen Home Stove Top Smokeless Grill Indoor BBQ
This grill is a good choice for anyone looking for a budget option. It has a solid build and a sturdy quality. Do keep in mind that this is a stovetop grill which works with both gas and electric stoves. It has a round shape to fit of over burners properly. The grill comes with an integrated drip pan and good quality non-stick cooking tray.
Our biggest gripe was all the splattering and the fact that it did produce a fair bit of smoke. The design might not work for all kinds of burners. This can also be used outdoors.
You can choose any indoor grill based on your budget, needs and product features.
Indoor grills are a great option and are mostly fuss free. All you got to do is get your recipe ready, set the right temperatures for the meat you are cooking, let the grill do its job and enjoy tasty and healthy grilled food.
